Cascada Bigăr – Bigar Waterfall, Romania

Placed in Caraș-Severin county, it is one of the most beautiful waterfall in Romania, named the most beautiful one in the world by famous magazines.

I was there this year with my sister and her boyfriend to celebrate her birthday by discovering heart touching places from our country.  After we drove along the Danube river and through the forest of Carpathians we arrived at the Cheile Nerei National Park.

The access to the waterfall is free and very easy, because, having the luck to house this earth wonder, God was generous and placed it near the main road, so you don’t have to get dirty to see it. What more should we wish? There are also stairs and a platform to get as close as possible to it. But remember, if you want to walk to the source of it, you have to pay 5 lei (~1€).

I was surprised to see that, for me, it looks even better than in the photos. We had a good weather when we arrive there, even if it was rainy until we arrived.

Close to the waterfall, there is a parking for the cars, where you can find some souvenirs, especially fridge magnets and you can eat a kürtős, a desert specific to the hungarians settled in the south-east of Transilvania.

Cheile Nerei is full of natural attractions and a lot of activities, there are other waterfalls that looks like this one, so you should better prepare a full week to explore this national park.

After this we went to The Castle of Hunedoara (Castelul Corvinilor), but this a story for another post.
